Tuesday tip - drink more water
Summer is here and as the temperatures rise I have found that staying hydrated can seriously help in more ways than one. “Drink more water!” We’ve all heard it. Yet, most of us go to bed with out drinking enough. Did you know that you should drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water? For example, if you weigh 150 lbs, you should drink at least 75 ounces of water.
Today I am sharing a few reasons why you should drink more water and some tips on how to work water into your daily routine. Hopefully we can develop a routine where drinking water becomes second nature. Cheers!
Why You Should Drink More Water
Perform Better
Proper hydration can be directly correlated to increased athletic performance. Water composes approximately 75% of our muscle tissue. Dehydration can lead to weakness, fatigue, dizziness, and electrolyte imbalance. Studies have shown that, “Just losing 2% of your body weight in fluid can decrease performance by up to 25%.” Remaining hydrated throughout your workout will leave you feeling stronger, and able to workout longer and more effectively.
Lose Weight
Often times people will feel hungry and have the sudden urge to eat, when all they really need to do is drink some water. Water is essentially filling the stomach with a zero-calorie substance, living you feeling full as a result. Staying properly hydrated throughout the day can serve as an appetite suppressant and help with weight loss.
Prevent Headaches
Often times headaches can be caused by dehydration, so drinking enough water can help reduce that dreaded head pain. Scientists found drinking around seven glasses a day was enough to ease pain and improve the quality of life in patients who regularly suffer headaches and migraines.
